Sartorius AG Center of Excellence Achieves LEED Gold Certification
We are proud to announce that Sartorius AG’s Center of Excellence has officially achieved LEED Gold certification, earning an impressive 63 points in its final review. This milestone reflects the dedication and commitment to sustainability demonstrated by the entire project team from design through construction.
LEED Gold certification recognizes buildings that meet some of the highest standards for environmental performance, energy efficiency, occupant wellness, and sustainable design. The Sartorius facility now stands among the world’s leading examples of sustainable building practices.
SUSTAINABILITY HIGHLIGHTS
Several key initiatives contributed to the project’s success:
Renewable Energy Integration
The project incorporated on-site solar power generation, helping reduce reliance on the electrical grid and supporting long-term energy efficiency goals.
Sustainable Material Selection
Throughout the design and construction process, the team prioritized materials with environmentally, economically, and socially responsible life-cycle impacts, including:
- Products supported by Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), helping reduce embodied carbon and improve life-cycle performance.
- Materials with transparent ingredient reporting, supporting informed decisions and minimizing the use of potentially harmful substances.
Enhanced Indoor Environmental Quality
Occupant health and wellness were central considerations throughout the project.
- Low-emission flooring, insulation, and ceiling materials were used throughout the building to reduce exposure to harmful chemicals.
- Advanced indoor air quality measures were implemented, including enhanced filtration systems, CO₂ monitoring, and walk-off mat systems designed to reduce the introduction of particulates into the facility.
