JS Vig Wins Safety Award
Michigan AGC, a chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), honored JS Vig with its safety program award in recognition of its zero accident record over the past year.

The annual award is broken down into industry categories and is based on injury cases experienced during the years as it relates to the total amount of work hours generated.

“Safety is one of JS Vig’s core values,” says owner Joe Vig. “We feel strongly that we have both a professional and a moral obligation to provide a safe and enjoyable work environment for every stakeholder involved with a JS Vig construction project.”

Kevyn Nadolski, safety manager, JS Vig, says safety compliance is an ongoing challenge in an organization that has deals with non-employees such as contractors and customers. “They have to agree to the way we are doing things, follow the rules and listen,” says Nadolski.

JS Vig takes a proactive stance in hazard prevention through extensive training and strong communication. “We don’t have one person who handles safety,” says Nadolski. “Every superintendent is fully trained in hazard prevention.”

Nadolski’s job is to keep everybody current. “I make sure they are updated with all the new information and all new compliances.

“I think the way we communicate and the way our superintendents are our front line for accident prevention is how we succeed.”

Nadolski accepted the AGC safety award on behalf of the company at a ceremonial luncheon in Lansing, June 7, 2007.
