J.S. Vig Delivers a State-of-the-Art Branch for Fifth Third Bank
ImageJS Vig recently finished a branch for Fifth Third Bank on the corner of Plymouth and Green Roads in Ann Arbor.

It is the third Ann Arbor branch for the bank. “They are building up their presence in the area,” says Brian Carvette, project manager, CB Richard Ellis, the contracted management team for Fifth Third.

The area is a high profile area, says Greg Copp, project manager, JS Vig. “It’s an underserved area for retail: Domino’s Farms is up the street; it’s a gateway to U-M and the traffic on Plymouth is pretty high. This is Ann Arbor’s high rent district.”

Fifth Third bought the property from a local developer who owns the corner property. The sale allowed development of condominium and retail buildings which JS Vig is also constructing. “Fifth Third’s presence was the impetus for the project,” says Copp.

Called Plymouth Green Crossing, the condominium model will be open in February and retail is slated to open mid-year.

The bank’s exterior will match the rest of the Plymouth Green Crossing style, breaking with the Fifth Third prototype, says Carvette. “They usually keep a standard that didn’t happen in Ann Arbor because of the development here.”

Fifth Third Bank’s signature design is a residential-looking wood frame building with a shingled roof. This branch will sport a steel frame with a rubber flat roof.

The interior will remain true to its prototype, says Carvette. It is about 3,200 square feet with a center lobby surrounded by seven offices plus a five-person teller line.

The bank is finished and awaiting FDIC approval before opening.
